Tynwald will be asked to approve an extension to the life of the Education Council so that important legislation can be brought in.
The council acts in an advisory role to the Department of Education and Children with its members serving as governors for the Island's 37 schools.
Work is currently underway on a new Education Bill which will represent the biggest overhaul of legislation for over 10 years.
