Residents urged to lock up their bikes

Thieves have denied an 11-year-old girl her bike after stealing it from her back yard.

Police are investigating two separate thefts from properties in Willaston Crescent in Douglas between 8am and 1pm on Wednesday.

The child's bike is white with a bucket style seat and white wheel guards - the other bike stolen was an adult's blue mountain bike which has a yellow and red fire design on the bar.

Officers say crimes like this have a heavy impact on victims and their communities and have urged people to lock their items away to deter opportunistic criminals.
