Tynwald approve spending for new mental health unit

£7.2 million of capital spend has been granted by Tynwald for the creation of a new mental health unit.

The facility will take the place of Grianagh Court; and will be based on the Nobles Hospital campus.

The existing unit has been operating at full capacity for several years, forcing some residents to be sent to the UK for treatment, at great expense.

The new building will be able to accommodate an extra 30 per cent on current levels, with 26 bed spaces.
