Taxpayers to foot silt spillage bill

It has cost around £10,700 to clear up silt spillages from the Island's roads - and taxpayers will be left to foot the bill.

That's according to the Infrastructure Minister following five incidents in Peel near to the Poortown Quarry.

The silt has been dredged from the marina - with work on-going Phil Gawne says this figure could rise further.

In the House of Keys yesterday he confirmed that contractors won't be contributing to the clean-up cost:
