Students from Castle Rushen High School have been commended for their "sterling job" after helping to tackle an out of control bonfire.
Firefighters from Castletown were called to Scarlett at 1.30pm on Thursday where they found the pupils lending a hand.
The fire had been deliberately started by the landowner but had spread faster than anticipated causing it to "rage out of control".
The teenage boys had used watering cans and hose pipes to try and extinguish the blaze.
