Sold out shows boost Villa Gaiety finances

Sat, 25 Apr 2015

The Villa Marina and Gaiety theatre complex have recorded a successful financial year coming in under budget for the fifth time.

Ticket sales and total attendances of more than 200,000 people helped generate £2.2 million, far exceeding the target set for the year.

Musical acts such as the Human League, John Newman and Paul Weller all sold out, with the host of the UK's top comedians playing to packed houses.

Locally produced events such as The Full Monty and Sunset Boulevard also played a vital role, with the annual Pantomime seen by over 9,000 people.

Away from entertaining the masses the Villa complex has also hosted the British Irish Council Conference, the Walking Festival, the Aviation Conference and various award ceremonies, weddings, dinners and corporate events.
