The Steam Packet Company couldn't have seen or prevented the chaos which has been caused by the Manannan being damaged.
That's according to the chief executive who has apologised to thousands of passengers for the inconvenience.
Last week the seacat suffered serious damage after ingesting debris on its way to Liverpool.
It is currently undergoing repairs meaning that services to Liverpool and Belfast have been replaced with alternatives.
