Murder Trial: 999 call played in court

A 999 call made to the emergency services on the night a Ballabeg man was allegedly murdered has been played in court.

Jurors yesterday heard the entire six-minute call made by 46-year-old Ian Anderson in the early hours of December 1st 2013.

He's standing trial accused of murdering 60-year-old gardener Neil Roberts at his home on Queen Street in Castletown.

In the call Anderson tells the operator a man has attacked him in his house after he asked him to leave - saying he had to defend himself by putting him "on the floor".

His wife can be heard in the background saying "hurry up" and "he's not breathing" - despite this Anderson is heard saying "it's not an emergency" and "he doesn't need CPR".

The call ends when the police arrive on scene - the first police officer in attendance who tried to resuscitate Mr Roberts also gave evidence in court yesterday. 

Anderson denies one charge of murder - the trial continues.
