The Island's constabulary says a change in approach means they have a more efficient way of dealing with people with mental health issues.
It was reported in the UK press yesterday that 20 per cent of police time was tied up addressing issues with mentally ill patients.
On Island police officers are given training on how to communicate with vulnerable people who may be suffering from a mental illness.
