Police say there could have been a "horrendous outcome" yesterday after a child was almost hit by a driver who failed to stop at a red light.
The 10-year-old was on the pelican crossing on Main Road in Onchan, between the junctions of School Road and Lakeside Road, at around 3.45pm.
As the boy was halfway across, a blue car - being driven by a man in the Onchan carriageway - continued driving.
Thankfully he was unharmed but officers say this was only because he had followed previous instructions to keep checking for cars whilst crossing.
Anyone who witnessed this incident - including the driver on the other side of the road who did stop - has been asked to contact Police Headquarters.
