Attempted murder case adjourned due to police delay

Wed, 11 Mar 2015

A Douglas man who's been charged with attempted murder has had his case delayed - because police didn't process paperwork in time.

25-year-old Carl Glover appeared at Douglas Courthouse yesterday where he was due to be committed to the Court of General Gaol Delivery.

He's accused of strangling a woman at a property on Anagh Coar Road on January 10th with the intention of killing her.

However the case has had to be adjourned for two weeks - the prosecution says it will be asking police for a "full explanation" as to why the officer in charge didn't meet the deadline.

Deputy High Bailiff Jayne Hughes agreed to the adjournment but said due to the nature of the charge it was "most unsatisfactory" for the police to say "they haven't got time".

There was no application for bail - Glover was remanded at the Isle of Man Prison until March 24th.
