Police say they believe the criminals behind the current burglary epidemic are too clued up about the operation to catch them.
It follows further burglaries over the last few days in the Douglas area - officers are choosing now not to release specific details.
There have now been over 45 crimes recorded since January.
Police say a number of positive lines of enquiry, and operational initiatives, are "in play" - including plain clothed officers working around the Island.
However, they won't release further information, saying they don't believe it is helping in the efforts to catch those responsible.
