Animal charities are pleading for new laws to be introduced after a rise in the number of cruelty cases on the Island.
Next week a Tynwald Select Committee will consider introducing animal welfare legislation - similar to that already in existence in the UK.
The ManxSPCA charity says greater powers would allow earlier intervention and give clear guidelines about what does, and does not, constitute cruelty.
