A new facility to cater for adults with learning disabilities should be ready for operation by early next year.
Tynwald granted approval to the £1.3 million spend needed for the 10-bed residential home, set to be constructed in Braddan at the Leece Lodge site.
As it stands the Island has approximately 300 people who live with complex learning difficulties.
The building will represent a significant improvement in the standard of accommodation for residents, with the existing facility no longer deemed fit for purpose.
