There should be no reason why referenda shouldn't be more liberally applied to gather public opinion.
That's the message from Douglas West MHK Chris Thomas - who says it would strengthen the Manx democratic process before bills are either cast off, or legislation is penned into law.
It works by government attaining a general vote by the electorate on a single political question - which has been referred to them to make a decision.
