Inmates contribute to waste reduction challenge
Fri, 23 Jan 2015
Prison inmates are being roped into recycling due to budget challenges.
As a result waste collections have reduced from 12 large wheelie bins of litter, once a week, to 10 of the same size once a fortnight.
The measures will save the prison £5,000 a year - approximately 2,400 kilograms of rubbish is recycled each month.
Alongside savings the changes are set to improve the facility's environmental impact and engage prisoners in a meaningful rehabilitation work.
