Young and vulnerable people being interviewed by police will be better protected in 2015.
An Appropriate Adult Scheme has been launched as a collaborative initiative between government, police, the Youth Justice Team, an Island-based charity and the Centre for Information Resource, Care and Assistance.
It's set to be a lifeline for children and adults who don't have a parent or guardian to call on for support when they are arrested.
Volunteers are to be recruited and trained to provide assistance for young offenders and others - like those with mental health issues and learning difficulties.
Anyone interested in applying for the role can contact CIRCA on 613713.
