An apprentice joiner who died following a car crash on the Mountain Road suffered massive blunt force trauma.
22-year-old Benjamin Collister was pronounced dead at Noble's Hospital following the collision on December 19th.
The inquest into his death was opened today - the court heard how he was conscious whilst trapped in his vehicle but suffered cardiac arrest as he was being extracted.
A post-mortem showed the Ballasalla man suffered injuries to his head, thorax and internal organs.
His body has been released to his family so a funeral can take place - the inquest has been adjourned to a date to be fixed.
