The Children's Centre lose out to St Christopher's Fellowship

Government's decision to award an off-Island provider with the care of some Manx children's services could put a long-standing charity in jeopardy.

61 members of staff at The Children's Centre are directly affected by the changeover - and face redundancy.

The Department of Health and Social Care has handed contracts for Residential Care Services, Leaving Care Services and a new 'Wraparound Service' to the St. Christopher's Fellowship.

A fourth Family Services contract remains with the centre for an interim period of up to six months.

Chief Executive John Knight has said there's evidence of conflicts of interest within the process of procurement, however to date, these appear to have fallen on deaf ears.
