People will be charged for a routine dental examination in future if new plans are approved by Tynwald.
The Department of Health and Social Care is planning on implementing a charge of £16.50 in March.
Over 17,000 people were seen by dentists last year for a simple check-up which involved no treatment or cleaning.
It's estimated that this will raise over £280,000 a year which will be ploughed back into a strategy to improve the Island's oral health.
