Kirk Michael take the Division 1 points from IoMSC Douglas in fine style
The nine man team of Kirk Michael claimed the 2 points from a reasonably high scoring visiting IoMSC Douglas team on Monday evening. The villagers secured the win by a single, but invaluable point. Top scores for the hosts went to Kevin Quinn, Tom Lord and Perryn Callister all posting 99’s with junior Illiam Christian hitting 98 and another junior, James Rosengrove completing the Division 1 team on 95. For the visitors, Martin Burns matched the oppositions 99’s with A N Other and Lorrie Thompson both hitting 98. Consolation wins in Divisions 2 and 3 did go Douglas’ way. Ironically, IoMSC Douglas’ score of 489, would have beaten every other match shot in the league this week – well done to the Rifle Associations enthusiastic minnows on this occasion.

Julian Teare becomes the first to shoot a double 100 this season.
In what threatened be the match of the week, Sulby welcomed Port St Mary and the result proved to be just that! Both these teams have 15 shooters or more and on this occasion, all three Divisions went to Sulby. Top score of the night went to Sulby’s Julian Teare with a terrific 100, making him the first shooter this season to place his name on the “Double 100” list, a special competition which is competed for at the end of the season for those who have shot two 100’s during the winter league matches. Julian was followed in
the match by brother Orry on 97. Derek Kermode and Ashley Gardner both posted 97 for the visitors. The family Gardner, this week took 3 of the top positions in Division 1, Ashley junior, sister Jackie and Ean Brewis on 96 made up the team.

Sandsiders try hard against a strong Laxey team
IoMSC Sandsiders hosted Laxey Rifle Club at Sinclair and unfortunately lost all three Divisions. Bill Jones continues to push Harry Creevy in the Individual League listings and this week was no exception, posting yet another 99 and leading the Sandsiders team. Three 97’s from Andy Traynor, Richard Arthur and Terry Green followed Jones. For the visiting team, Nick Kennish produced an excellent 99 with Harry Creevy and Andy Jessopp close behind on 98.

Dates for your Diaries
League matches now have a break until Monday January 5th when the programme will be IoMSC Douglas hosting Sulby, Castletown travelling to Laxey and Port St Mary welcome Kirk Michael.
Sunday January 4th will be the first 50 metre Handicap match of 2015 – where an improvement in the weather from the December Handicap, would be welcomed. Michael Clague has asked me to remind all entrants in the IoMRA competitions, if they could ensure to return shot cards by the dates on their envelopes.
