A police sergeant from West Sussex has been fined £500 after being caught riding his motorbike without due care and attention during TT.
43-year-old Colin Mcbryer appeared at Douglas Courthouse yesterday where he retracted his earlier not guilty plea.
On May 28th he was followed by an unmarked police bike on the Kirk Michael to Ramsey road after he was seen overtaking and crossing into the offside lane on a number of blind bends.
The court heard he was an experienced patrol rider, who often escorts VIPS, and was requesting a move into the Roads Policing Unit - his advocate said at no time was he speeding.
He said whilst it wasn't the "most prudent" of driving Mcbryer was simply trying to get a better view of the road but did accept that during the busy TT period it wasn't wise to ride in this manner.
Sentencing him the Magistrates said his driving had fallen short of his own standards - Mcbryer apologised to them as he was given six penalty points and also ordered to pay £500 in costs.
