Airport could close at weekends says Minister

Plans to close Ronaldsway Airport at the weekends are under consideration.

That's the revelation made by the Infrastructure Minister Phil Gawne this week.

In Tynwald Onchan MHK Peter Karran asked for an estimation of how much it would cost to close the airport from late Saturday to Sunday.

Figures are currently being compiled - MLC Alex Downie asked the Minister to liaise with London City airport which has implemented a similar timetable:
