IoM Archery Club Report

Thu, 04 Dec 2014

Quite a large group of archers met on Sunday to shoot a Portsmouth round as part of the Club’s Handicap League. Karen Lott elected to shoot the round bare bow. Carl Albrigt, who was awarded a handicap after shooting his third round on Monday night, was eligible to compete for the first time.

As far as scratch scores were concerned, Kirsten George just edged out Sarah Rigby in the Ladies Compound by one point. In the Gents Compound only seven points separated the three men taking part but it was Colin Moore who triumphed. Colin’s scratch score of 568 was a new personal best for the round, and after the handicap was applied his adjusted total was good enough for third place.

Once again it was the Junior club members who took the highest places after handicapping. Josh Trafford was 100 points clear of his nearest rival with his scratch score but had to settle for second place after the handicap was applied. Joseph Reaney once again claimed first place. Colin Moore was the only Senior to take a podium spot which pushed the only other Junior competing, Jack Tyrer, into fourth place.

Aalin George and Tony Hartley also shot on Sunday but as neither of them elected to shoot the round of the day their scores could not be counted.

Portsmouth Handicap Results – 1. Joseph Reaney 1445 (60/394/5), 2. Josh Trafford 1441 (60/539/18), 3. Colin Moore 1439 (60/568/28)pb, 4. Jack Tyrer 1432 (60/438/1), 5. Dave Moore 1431 (60/563/23), 6. Good luck to everyone travelling across the National Indoor Champions at the weekend.
