Plans to relocate the Island's two crown post offices in Ramsey and Douglas have been put on hold for three months.
An emergency motion was put forward in the House of Keys today by Liberal Vannin leader Kate Beecroft who wanted a deferral, so that the decision can be re-examined in its entirety.
Chairman of the Post Office Graham Cregeen submitted an amendment to this - which kept the same time scale, but greatly narrowed the focus.
His amendment successfully carried by 19 votes - however in the preceding debate MHKs had their say on the matter:
