A Douglas man has been jailed after being caught almost three times over the drink drive limit.
57-year-old Alan Rogers pleaded guilty to one count of driving with excess alcohol after being stopped by police on October 10th.
He had been drinking wine and vodka in a car park near to Noble's Hospital before driving home.
Officers found him on Kensington Road trying to lock his vehicle describing him as unsteady on his feet, with slurred speech and smelling highly of alcohol.
Defending him his advocate said he was a contrite man who was full of remorse and his problem with alcohol was a "blight upon his life".
Sentencing him Deputy High Bailiff Jayne Hughes said his decision was "fraught with danger" and the offence was aggravated by the high reading and previous convictions.
Rogers was sentenced to 10 weeks in prison and disqualified from driving for six years.
