Support for Island carers to be improved

Support for carers will be improved thanks to a new pilot scheme which is launching next month.

It's a joint initiative between the Department of Health and Social Care and Island-based charity Crossroads Care to decipher what resources are needed to assess people's needs.

The department says it's essential that people are given the tools to care for their loved ones.

Adult service provider Jane Sloane says the scheme is a positive leap in the right direction:
