Plans to employ 29 new nurses at Noble's Hospital will save government half a million pounds.
The move contravenes government's current policy of keeping headcount down but the Council of Ministers has agreed to the plan.
The recruitment process will last roughly a year and applications will be invited from across the UK and Europe as well as the Island.
It will see an end to the reliance on temporary agency workers who come with much higher hourly rates of pay.
