Delaying work on moving the horse tram tracks is worth it to ensure the right decision is made on where to re-locate them.
Hoteliers and retailers in Douglas have sparked a potential U-turn on plans to position them at the side of the road.
Instead they could be built into the seaward walkway - an idea that had previously been ruled out due to concerns about the IRIS system.
Plans are on display in the Sea Terminal including mock-up designs and technical information to show how it could look.
Infrastructure Minister Phil Gawne says it's now up to the public to decide:
