Taxpayers left footing bill for election case

Taxpayers have been left to foot a bill exceeding £1 million for the Douglas East by-election court case.
Final figures for the case which culminated in a seven week trial in 2012 are in - and show it cost £1,377,255.
Of this over £660,000 was paid to UK Counsel and more than £500,000 was spent on Legal Aid.
Treasury Minister Eddie Teare says he thinks a number of issues now need addressing:
