Teenager pleads guilty to having sex with 13-year-old

A teenager has pleaded guilty to four counts of having unlawful sex with a 13-year-old girl - and been remanded in prison.

The 18-year-old Douglas man made the admissions at Douglas Courthouse today.

He admitted three charges of having unlawful sexual intercourse during August and a fourth from the 14th of September.

The court heard how the defendant met the girl during the school summer holidays and despite being aware of her age entered into a sexual relationship.

The relationship stopped when her parents found out but then reconvened earlier this month - they then reported the matter to police and he was arrested.

He was committed to the Court of General Gaol Delivery and will next appear in court on October 10th.
