People have not delegated their democratic rights to their fellow citizens.
That's according to an MHK who says he can understand why people find it unacceptable that the new Big Debate meetings are invite only.
Michael man Alf Cannan says at the moment the promise of a big debate is nothing but words.
The Cabinet Office has organised the meetings but only a select number of people from the electoral roll will be asked to attend.
He says he's concerned that major government policy should be decided in this way and says to him there is nothing yet to discuss:
