Police are warning people to be on their guard after a local person was left out of pocket after an internet transaction.
They were selling something via a website - the buyer overpaid via a cheque and asked for a refund of the difference.
The cheque initially cleared and the seller refunded the difference however the bank then withdrew the cheque and the seller was left short changed.
Police say everyone should exercise caution when conducting financial transactions over the internet and say if something seems suspicious it probably is.
