Plans for a new marine interpretation centre in Port Erin have been scrapped by the company behind the development.
Sea Breezes say the decision by planners to reject the application based on the visual look of the building, and a lack of car parking, came as a "considerable shock".
The plans, which would have transformed the old Marine Biological Centre, into offices and leisure facilities were expected to be met with "universal approval" after gaining support.
Sea Breezes say they were appealing, sensitive to the location and history of the building and would have benefitted the local economy.
Now the company says its energy and focus is better concentrated on finding another location instead of appealing the decision.
