Tidal power would be a much viable alternative to wind farms for shipping - according to the Steam Packet Company.
As it can be hidden below sea level it says it wouldn't be as much as a hindrance to transportation - however the technology isn't ready yet.
Airport and shipping bosses have expressed their relief after Celtic Array's controversial wind farm development plans for the Irish Sea were pulled.
