Steam Packet relieved at abandoned wind farm plans

Tidal power would be a much viable alternative to wind farms for shipping - according to the Steam Packet Company.

As it can be hidden below sea level it says it wouldn't be as much as a hindrance to transportation - however the technology isn't ready yet.

Airport and shipping bosses have expressed their relief after Celtic Array's controversial wind farm development plans for the Irish Sea were pulled.

Chief executive Mark Woodward says government should be careful where it offers sites to companies as they could get in the way - he believes the method is bound to cause issues:
