Encouraging more people to cycle to and from work will help to ease congestion on the roads.
That's according to the Department of Infrastructure which says it is currently reviewing its cycling policy and strategy.
It had aimed to encourage the use of pedal power, and increase the volume of bicycle traffic by five per cent, in the period between 2008 and 2013.
The department also says it will work with Economic Development to review and develop recreational and tourist cycling routes around the Island.
