The fact that more sex offences are reported on the Island is a positive step.
That's the message from the Minister for Home Affairs, who says it's because many people were too afraid of coming forward before cases - like that of Jimmy Saville - hit the UK media.
55 reports were made to police across the spectrum of sex related incidents in 2013-2014 - up eight cases on the year before.
Juan Watterson says historical cases are just as important as what occurs today, and appeals for people living here not to be afraid to speak to police:
