Cavendish posts picture from hospital bed

Mark Cavendish has posted a picture from his hospital bed following surgery to fix his damaged shoulder.

The Manx Missile suffered a heavy crash in the closing stages of the first stage of the Tour de France on Saturday.

The injuries he sustained ruled him out of the rest of the Tour and the upcoming Commonwealth Games where he was due to represent team Isle of Man.

Seeming in good spirits he said as soon as he was out of surgery he had the TV on to cheer on his Omega Pharma Quickstep team mates.
