Tesco's plans to build an additional retail unit in the car park have been scuppered.
The proposal for a detached 54 square metre unit for seasonal retail sales was refused unanimously by the Planning Committee.
That's despite the idea receiving earlier approval recommendation from the planning officer.
The plans were met with outcry by Douglas Council - it felt it could have had a damaging effect on town centre shopping.
Despite this derision the plans received no objections in written form.
