Rifle Shooting - Terrific scores on a glorious evening!

With glorious sunshine and practically no wind, round 2 of the Jamaica Classified got underway on Monday evening with a slightly smaller field of 18 competitors. There was a three way gun score win which involved Harry Creevy, Mike Duncalf and an ‘on form’ Tracey Skelton who, for the second week running produced another personal best score of 585, 3 points better than last week. On count back, Skelton took the lead with the only 100 of the evening in her last series, followed by Creevy with Duncalf holding third slot. However, this particular competition is a classified match and the classes were as follows:-

                Run concurrently with the Jamaica Trophy was round 8 of The Osborn Carpets classified 600 match and on this occasion, the win went to Gemma Kermode who posted a terrific 587 x 600, 2 points ahead of Skelton, Creevy and Duncalf. Gun scores in order were as follows:-

Kermode collects an Empire Garage Tynwald Shield Medal

            In her second match of the evening, round 8 of The Empire Garage Tynwald Shield, Gemma Kermode claimed the win, two points clear of second placed shooter, Mike Clague. Tracey Skelton’s evenings personal best, helped her to third position and it must be noted that Skelton’s handicap of 22 is the lowest of the three top slots which must be down to her recent excellent results. Full results were as follows:-

Illiam Christian takes round 8 of The Sadler Junior Championship

            The final match of the evening was round 8 of the Sadler Junior Championship match and even though just 3 juniors took part this week, the scores were reasonably close. Illiam Christian and Thomas Clague’s posted results were identical with the win going to Christian on count-back. Result was: -

1 – Christian                            93, 93, 98 = 284 x 300

2 – Clague                               93, 95, 96 = 284

3 – Alex Trafford                     97, 90, 93 = 280

            Next Monday evening, June 30th, at Sinclair range, will see rounds ten of The Osborn 600 scratch match, Empire Garage Tynwald Shield Handicap and The Sadler Junior Championship Scratch 300 and round three of The Jamaica Trophy. Sunday July 6th will be the Isle of Man Shooting Club’s Monthly Handicap and round three of The Junior 50 metre Grand Prix commencing at 10.30 am.
