CoMIN to respond to Sefton findings in July Tynwald

Following a lengthy debate on the Sefton bailout deal it has been decided that the Council of Ministers will report back to Tynwald next month on how it intends to proceed.

It was revealed earlier today that aspects of the controversial deal were unlawful.

An independent report determined that the deal was completed outside of government powers.

Economic Development Minister John Shimmin earlier offered his resignation over the matter - it was not accepted by the Chief Minister.

Allan Bell says he opted not to accept his resignaton as he feels he acted in good faith in the best interests of the Island's economy and its people.

Michael MHK Alf Cannan has been a vocal critic of the deal from the outset - he says both he and his fellow detractors knew it was not lawful, hence their objections:
