There needs to be more awareness on Island to the plight of young carers.
Crossroads Care says it wants to educate the public and boost awareness to the reality that there could be up to 1000 young carers on Island.
A young carer is anyone aged between five and 24 that has to provide full time care to a relative who may suffer from a physical disability, a mental illness or dependency issues with alcohol or drugs.
As it stands Crossroads provides respite care and advice to 74 young people on Island.
