MotoGP rider Scott Redding has confirmed he will not be appearing at this year's TT after coming under fire for expressing his opinion on the road racing event.
The 21-year-old was due to take part in a parade lap on Friday but has pulled out saying he is devastated over the death of riders Bob Price and Karl Harris.
On Tuesday evening he posted a series of emotive tweets on Twitter saying the TT was 'getting out of hand' and that it was like a 'death race'.
His comments sparked criticism but in a statement released yesterday he says their deaths - particularly Price's who was a close family friend - have hit him harder than he expected.
Redding says he won't be at the TT not because he has anything against it but because he wants to mourn Bob in the place where he knew him best rather than the place he was taken.
