The Chief Minister says he supports the principal of introducing limited term contracts for chief officers.
Onchan MHK Peter Karran raised the issue in Tynwald yesterday – he wanted to know if there were any plans to change the terms and conditions.
Allan Bell says they are a matter for individual employing authorities as bargaining mechanisms may be used to attract people to the job.
However he says the concept of fixed contracts and new performance reporting mechanisms for chief executives within the departments are being explored at present.
The Civil Service Commission is looking at potential options and will report back in due course.
