No private health levy for those on work permits

Employers of staff on work permits will not be called on to provide a private health cover levy.

Onchan MHK Peter Karran put the question to the Economic Development Minister in yesterday's House of Keys sitting.

John Shimmin pointed out the large number of Manx people working and living in the UK, and the damaging impact it could have if Westminster took the stance suggested by him.

He says such a measure could seriously harm chances of attracting vital workers from off Island:
