The Steam Packet has come under attack for not protecting its most vulnerable passengers – the disabled.
That’s the allegation put forward by Jan Jordan who staged a protest outside the Sea Terminal yesterday – she’s angry over an alleged incident concerning her son’s girlfriend in December last year.
She says the 21-year-old was left trapped and ‘traumatised’ in the toilet on the Ben-my-Chree during a storm because it doesn’t cater properly for those with a disability.
The Steam Packet has refuted the accusations saying the woman didn’t make a complaint at the time – with Mrs Jordan only raising the issue herself earlier this month.
Chief executive Mark Woodward says all vessels comply fully with EU requirements and shouldn’t be under attack.
