Primary school places are likely to be in higher demand at the start of the next academic year.
The Department of Education and Children says it expects over 900 to start school in September.
The figures have been predicted using data from the 2011 census.
There are currently just over 6,200 primary school pupils at schools on the Island – with just 34 children registered as being home educated.
