The Isle of Man has submitted a bid to host the 2016 British Cycling National Road Race Championships.
The event is regarded as the highlight of the British cycling calendar, attracting the country’s leading riders and teams.
The Island has previous experience of hosting the event, with the championships often featuring in the Isle of Man International Cycling Week that ran from 1936 to 2003.
Chief Minister Allan Bell launched the bid yesterday whilst at the Glasgow Emirates Arena velodrome - the facility will host the Island’s team of cycling superstars at the Commonwealth Games this summer.
