Public need to be more skin cancer aware, says Department of Health

Many people on the Island don't take skin cancer seriously - according to the Department of Health.

If skin cancer is caught early it's usually treatable but many people don't get themselves checked out when they find an unusual growth.

The British Skin Foundation undertook a study in the UK, which revealed that over half of people didn't know skin cancer is the most deadly form of the disease or how to check for it.

Senior health promotions officer Angela Howland says some people are more prone to it and should see their GP if they're concerned:
