The IoM Archery Club met on Sunday to shoot a Worcester round as part of the Club’s Handicap League. The round consists of 60 arrows shot in groups of five at a black and white target. The zones score from 5 down to 1.
The maximum score on a Worcester is 300 and once again Sarah Rigby shot a perfect round. Dave Moore was disappointed to drop a point with his 45th arrow, but after the handicap was applied he shared second place with Sarah.
Three archers recorded personal best scores: James Hill, Toby Young and Karen Lott. James shot the Worcester for the first time and can now be handicapped for future rounds. Toby added a terrific 35 points to his pb in spite of having trouble with his sight arm which kept working its way loose. Not only did Toby record a new pb but his score after handicap was enough to take the win.
Rhys Moore, who picked up a neck/shoulder injury whilst playing rugby, struggled on Sunday and had to be content with the wooden spoon.
Karen Lott elected to shoot the round barebow, that is with all shooting aids removed from the bow. Karen recorded a score of 229 to break the Club record by 31 points. This is Lott’s second Club record of the season.
